LCM Energy Solutions Co., Ltd. - Industry-Academy-Government Joint Cooperation Agreement with Naju City

On the 13th, Jeonnam Provincial University (President Park Byeong-ho) signed an industry-academia-government joint cooperation agreement with LCM Energy Solution Co., Ltd. and Naju City to strengthen university-specific education and promote employment in the seminar room of the Provincial University Industry-University Cooperation Foundation.

The signing ceremony was attended by Park Byeong-ho, president of Jeonnam Provincial University, Lee Byeong-heung, chairman of LCM Energy Solutions Co., Ltd., Lee Byeong-yong, director of investment attraction in Jeonnam-do, Na Sang-in, future strategic industry director of Naju City, Jeon Seong-jin, deputy director of KEPCO Win-Win Cooperation Department, and Park Jeong-seo, chairman of KPH Asset Management.

The main contents of the agreement are ▲Establishment of mutual industry-university cooperation programs and establishment of systems between universities and industries ▲Cooperation in mutual exchanges between field workers in industries and university majors ▲Development and operation of customized career specialized courses for fostering professional manpower ▲Technical guidance channels Establishment, activation of joint research on national policy and technology development tasks supervised by cities and provinces.

LCM Energy Solution Co., Ltd. is a domestic company with independent technology and competitiveness in the field of manufacturing lithium ion battery packs and lithium polymer cells (secondary batteries). In June, the construction of a manufacturing plant in the Energy Valley Innovation Industrial Complex was started, and an investment agreement of 200 billion won was signed with Jeonnam Province and Naju.

As the first step, by 2022, it plans to create a secondary cell battery manufacturing plant and create jobs for 250 people with the goal of expanding the in-house research center.

In the second phase, it plans to invest an additional 400 billion won by 2025 and create about 500 new jobs by 2025 with the goal of building a cell facility with a total capacity of 3GWh per year.

Jeonnam Provincial University established the Energy Valley Industry-University Convergence Campus in the Naju Innovation Industrial Complex in 2019 and is operating cutting-edge departments such as the Department of New Renewable Energy and Electricity and the Department of Artificial Intelligence Drones. In cooperation with the industrial site infrastructure of the innovative industrial complex, it is producing field workers.

President Park Byeong-ho said, “LCM Energy Solutions Co., Ltd. can continue to receive support from universities for stable supply of excellent manpower and professional industry-university technology cooperation.” It is expected to have a great effect on the development of the local economy,” he said.

Jeonnam Provincial University is establishing itself as a prestigious university for employment education by operating a university job center to nurture field workers through industry-academia linkages and being selected as an excellent university.
